Before we do all that, let's take a moment to discuss what a "ring" is and how it works.

A ring is a group of web sites that have common elements, that agree to display a banner of some kind that show they are members of that particular "ring". The reason it is called a ring, is because you can start at one site and by following the navigational tools on the banner, you can eventually end up at the site you began on. Therefore, completing the "ring". By placing this ring banner on your site, it not only increases visitors to your site, it brings specific types of visitors that are interested in your content. Thus, a visitor interested in anything to do with our Lord Jesus Christ, for example, can sample various different sites with this same content.

Because the ring is a popular way to increase the visitors to your site, many sites will have multiple rings. These rings can be of the same content, such as beliefs and love for Jesus Christ, or they may add others such as pet rings, or pro-life rings, etc. Anything that may represent their beliefs and interests.

Without going into extensive detail, there are several types of "rings" available. The original "WebRing" enterprise was started by a fellow named Sage Weil. He sold WebRing to Starseed, which was acquired by Geocities. In 1999 Yahoo! bought Geocities, and with it, WebRing (**).

Participation in the "Thru His Eyes" web ring is free and does not contain any secret agendas or hidden rules. The only responsibility on your part is that you must be willing to place the provided ring code on your web site, provide the url address for the page that contains that ring code, and the willingness to keep your site information updated and conform to the standards set forth in these guidelines. You are not obligated in any way and can remove the ring code off your site at any time. If the ringmaster, that's me, notices that your information is not current or your webpage content is not suitable for our ring visitors, your site will be moved into the queue until we can discuss the problem.

Hopefully this helps your understanding of the "ring" and in turn will help you to decide whether you would like to participate. So, now let's move on to the guidelines.

Guidelines

The Thru His Eyes ring is devoted to websites that have and believe in the Bible, a love for our Saviour Jesus Christ, and consistent with standards set forth in the Word of God, regardless of your websites focus. You must agree and believe in this statement.

You must have a website in which to place the ring code. (A given, huh?!)

You must be at least 14 years old. Sorry kids, that's Ring Surf's rules.

Your site's content must be completely "G" rated and cannot contain anything a child should not look upon. That means no pornography, adult material or content, etc. I don't want to have to close the window when my grandchildren come in the room.

Your site must also not LINK to any sites that contain any of the above mentioned material. No exceptions!

You site must not contain any crude, off-color or offensive language, nor link to any sites that do.

Web sites must not contain, nor link to any other sites that have any material that questions, challenges or is offensive to any other religion, no matter what our beliefs toward that faith or religious doctrine is. We are all God's children and will respect another's faith and beliefs.

Member sites will not promote any illegal activities, "get rich quick" programs, or chain letters. Nor will this be a place to "spam" other members with unwanted material.

Sites must not promote gambling, including lotteries.

Your site must provide a friendly and loving atmosphere in which to visit. The love of our Lord would not dwell in a house of contention and strife.

And finally, the ring mistress (that's me) reserved the right to deny membership to any site I feel does not fit with the guidelines described.
